Shavkat Mirziyoyev called on foreign investors to invest in the regions of Uzbekistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev,speakingat the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, called on foreign investors to invest more actively in the development of the country`s regions.

Mirziyoyev noted that over the past five months, tourist flows to Uzbekistan have increased by 27% and reached 5.5 million people. The republic is capable of receiving 15–20 million foreign tourists annually and providing them with services worth at least $15 billion.

The President invited investors to invest in tourism not only in Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, but also in other regions. He also stated that Uzbekistan exports fruits and vegetables to 70 countries worth $3.5 billion a year.

“The leaders of 14 regions are present at today’s forum. Please, visit the regions together with them and get acquainted directly with the opportunities being created. Actively participate in mutually beneficial projects, using your rich experience, technologies and investments. In all these processes, all khokims will be by your side, provide close support and help in every possible way,” the head of state said.

The President emphasized that the country`s population is approaching 40 million. By 2040, the level of urbanization is planned to increase from 51 to 65%. Housing construction projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan, which will provide an annual market of at least $10 billion. The country is preparing public-private partnership projects worth $27 billion.

Also Shavkat Mirziyoyevdesignatedkey directions for further deepening the country`s investment policy and presented new initiatives for the development of the financial system, industry and high-tech industries. One of the central directions will be the formation of the Tashkent International Financial Center.
